George Washington Bridge

Exiting GWB to NY Greenway

on Thu, 06/07/2012 - 02:32

After being awestruck by walking over the George Washington Bridge (CAUTION: watch out for cyclist that share the road with pedestrians!), you will be wondering which way to go. That's perfectly normal.

Follow the pedestrian walkway which will breifely loop around and back in the same direction so that you will get out of the clover leaf and land on a 178th St. You may continue on 178th St to Mt. Washington Ave. Ignore going one block further to 177th St. (that might be there for cyclist using a one way street.) Turn left at Fort Washington Ave.

Hudson River Walkway Details

The Hudson River Waterfront Conservancy has been the driving force for the development of the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway which covers the completed 12 miles or so from Exchange Place to Edgewater and then the 3 mile section of this trail that goes from Edgewater to the GWB along River Road (which is not yet complete).

Here's a detailed explanation of the trail we will be walking on the NJ side provided by the Conservancy:
